Eleni Drivas is a New York based, freelance historical researcher, writer, and theater producer. She holds a bachelor of arts in history from Hunter College, CUNY, and a master of arts in history from St. John’s University. Currently, she is a Ph.D. candidate in the History Department of St. John's University. In addition to I Want a Country, Drivas has translated other significant Greek theatrical works, such as Sons and Daughters, by Yannis Kalavrianos. She is presently writing Three Waves, a play based on interviews she has conducted within the Greek-American community which deals with three generations of Greek immigrants. Drivas is a member of numerous professional associations, including the American Historical Association, the Oral History Association, and the American Literary Translation Association. She recently founded HDGP Productions, which endeavors to bring socially relevant writing to the stage and to a multicultural audience.
